CASA’s Education and Leadership Department provides courses, workshops, and educational materials geared for day laborers, tenants, and women to help them improve their quality of life. The Department also develops in-house curricula based on popular education methodology, which uses a participatory learning style and gears material to the life experiences of the students. Most but not all of CASA’s classes are fee-based.
Current classes include financial literacy, citizenship preparation, home improvement licensure prep courses, Spanish literacy, computer classes, vocational training, and seven levels of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). CASA also provides technical assistance & courses for individuals interested in starting a small or cooperatively-owned business.
